Practice staff training with PRIMIS

Jamie LewinSince myself and PRIMIS provided approx 20 practice staff including practice managers, with Quality Data, Quality Outcomes & Clinical Audit made easy using PRIMIS+ tools in May 2011, these practices have really embraced themselves by looking more into how CHART & CHART online can help them within their practice and looking at their data.

After the training event in May, I have been to a couple of practices and shown them how to use CHART & CHART online and discussed the benefits for the practice in regards to their data quality and how PRIMIS can help especially with the flu season which is now upon us.

These practice’s are now going to try and run the queries using MIQUEST themselves and the rest of the practice staff that attended are now making some head way in regards to cleansing their data and ensuring that the use the right codes and minimise inaccuracies.

I understand that since the training event, some of the practices have spoken to each other, and other practices that didn’t attended the training are very interested and are asking when another event will be taking place.

I now have approx all 39 practices signed up to PRIMIS and who are registered at level 2, and are going to be looking at CHART.

Currently as I’m the only Clinical Audit & Data Quality Specialist and PRIMIS Facilitator for Trafford PCT and I cover 39 practices, I don’t get the opportunity to get out to all the practices in Trafford to undertake data quality work with them for CHART and audit, so this was a great opportunity to get the practice’s together and do some work with them.

My ultimate aim is to get all the practices working together as one, and ensuring their data quality is right and of a high standard.

There has been a historical issue that has divided the practices into two areas Trafford North and Trafford South, and which means that Trafford North practice’s wont speak with Trafford South practice practice’s, although everybody is facing the same issues and vice versa with the South not wanting to talk to the North.

On the training day we had a mixture of Trafford North and South practice managers and staff, and everyone got along really well and were all talking and swapping email address and I understand that some of them have spoken since the training event in May. The North, South divide has not completely gone, but the gap has gotten smaller, and I will continue working on this to eradicate the divide and get everybody working together.

I really enjoyed the training day that PRIMIS and myself delivered for the practices of Trafford and would highly recommended, taking up this opportunity to further develop the knowledge, understanding and skills for the practices and their staff and the benefits that can be achieved.

I really liked the opportunity that I had in looking into what training was being offered and the training that I could choose that would benefit my practices.
