Success with CHART in Surrey
North Surrey 2005
Barbara Hammerton, Data Quality Facilitator for North Surrey PCT* Surrey PCT), is in a fairly unique situation in that 50% of the 16 practices she works with use shared servers.
In the past, Barbara worked with her practices using the standard PRIMIS+ shared server queries to review their data quality. Although Barbara had received requests for the PRIMIS+ software tool, Rush for Practices, this could unfortunately not be used for shared server practices.
With the release of CHART, some of the North Surrey practices are now able to use the query libraries to extract only their own data for the first time. Barbara reports that those practices have found the new GMS query library in CHART to be "very beneficial" in working towards their targets, with one practice using the information to aim for 100% in all indicators, not just the top percentage required for maximum payment.
Barbara feels that CHART has been a great success in North Surrey. As well as saving the practices time and frustration, patients will ultimately benefit as the practices can strive for higher quality achievements.
* Since this case study was first produced, North Surrey was amalgamated into Surrey PCT, following the 2006 PCT restructuring.
