PRIMIS has now completed the final report for the first phase of its community data project, designed to provide training and advice to community staff with access to GP practice systems.

PRIMIS is delighted to announce that official confirmation has been received from the NHS Information Authority of an extension to the current contract until March 2004. The funding will enable PRIMIS to continue and develop its work of building quality information in primary care.

The protection of primary care data was the subject of a panel session held by PRIMIS at HC2002. Entitled "Who Needs to Know? (Protecting Primary Care Data)", the session involved debate on the issues surrounding the use of data extracted from GP clinical systems, from a variety of different perspectives.
